High humidity and temperatures consistently above 60 degrees mean that mosquito season is upon us. Mosquitoes bite day and night. They spread germs through bites that can make you and your loved ones sick. Fight the Bite this summer by: - Regularly empty and wash any containers on your property that hold water. - Using screens on windows and doors in your home. - Using EPA-registered insect repellents. - Dressing in loose-fitting clothing that covers arms and legs. Treat clothing with Permethrin. - Apply sunscreen first and insect repellent second. Reapply as instructed on the packaging. For Children: - Dress children in clothing that covers arms and legs - Cover strollers and baby carriers with mosquito netting when outdoors. - DO NOT use products containing OLE or PMD on children ages 3 and younger. - DO NOT apply repellent to a child’s hands, eyes, mouth, cuts, or irritated skin. - Adults should apply repellent to their hands before applying to a child’s face.
