DANCE 2000: The Felice Lesser Dance Theater Foundation, Inc.
FLDT creates and performs original dance works, mixing dance with video & animation, contemporary music, drama, & art. Its “living movies” (Lesser’s hybrid form in which dancers interact with “moving sets” of video/animation), confront important issues in our world & in dance today (racism, equity, inclusion, borders, homophobia, global warming, AI, technology & how arts and artists are undervalued in the U. S.). A champion of contemporary music since the company’s inception in 1975, FLDT has commissioned new scores & presented the works of some of today's best composers. Committed to education & outreach, its extensive array of lecture-demos/classes/residencies & workshops develop audiences and bring general public, special populations, and students into the creative process.
