"Pastures in the shadow of the city". The pastures are gone, but the little acreage in the middle of the neighborhood in North Omaha is still there. We started rescuing and rehabilitating horses in the early '90's, and continue to do so. To find and rescue injured, aged and unwanted horses, rehabilitate and rehome them or provide unlimited sanctuary. Our rescue also welcomes all visitors to experience these amazing creatures while volunteering or just interacting with them and learning about them in an inner city environment. We have several special needs volunteers that feed a brush and hug the horses and help with upkeep of the grounds which is a therapy for them. We offer many free events to our underserved community residents throughout the year. We also have several skilled volunteers that work the horses and maintain the buildings and property year round.
