Landmark co-hosted two hikes for the Chequamegon Birding and Nature Fest last week! On Thursday, we had a beautiful day with a light breeze as we explored the Lincoln Community Forest. While it was a small group, they were dedicated nature enthusiasts and soaked up information about migratory birds, bog plants, and sustainable forest management. Thanks to Pam Dryer, Tom Piikkila, and Northland College senior Adriana Losen for helping to lead the hike! On Friday, we had a chilly morning hike in Bayfield starting at the bottom of the Big Ravine forest and working our way up switchbacks to the top of the trail. Birds were a little quiet, but we still heard or saw Ovenbird, Blackburnian warbler, Nashville warbler, Winter wren, Black-throated green warbler, and others. (fb)
