Reduce your meat intake or buy from local, more humane farms! #CrateFreeUSA We are a not-for-profit dedicated to improving the welfare of factory farm animals. Factory-farmed animals are the most exploited and least protected group of animals in our country. As a result they endure mistreatment in ways that are hard to even imagine. And, unfortunately, most meat eaters have no idea of what happens to food animals before they get to the plate. Crate Free USA directly addresses this issue. Crate Free USA is a largely volunteer, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) animal welfare organization dedicated to improving conditions for food animals in the United States. Through our efforts we aim to: Create awareness of the extreme and inhumane confinement of food animals on factory farms; educate consumers on how to purchase animal products directly from local farmers; and educate the public about policy to eliminate extreme confinement practices.

Oklahoma is one of the top 10 pork producing states and they do not have a law against using gestation crates. Kirkpatrick Foundation published A Way Forward: A Report on the Extreme Confinement of Pregnant in Oklahoma, addressing how many of those female pigs live most of their lives in gestation crates as part of concentrated animal feeding operations. These crates—2 feet wide by 7 feet long—restrict the pig's ability to lay down, turn around, and stretch their limbs.
