Member Spotlight: Lawanda & Jeff Hicks This week, we are proud to celebrate a dynamic duo whose love for God, each other, and this church family has left an indelible mark on 16th Street Baptist Church—Sis. Lawanda and Bro. Jeff Hicks. 💛 Although each of them is more than worthy of an individual spotlight, it’s the collective love and care they bring as a couple that truly deserves double honor. 🙌🏾 Bro. Jeff Hicks faithfully serves as a pillar within our church—offering his time and heart as a Deacon, a member of the Trustee Board, and a soulful lead in the Men’s Choir. And let’s not forget—he’s just an all-around great guy with a spirit of humility and kindness that’s contagious. Sis. Lawanda Hicks leads our Youth Ministry with unmatched passion and compassion. She treats every child like her own—making sure each one knows they are seen, loved, and supported. She doesn’t just minister to kids in the moment—she builds lifelong relationships, still staying connected with young people who are now grown but never forgot her love and mentorship. She also serves on our Deaconess Board and Ambassadors for Christ choir. Even in the face of unimaginable personal loss, the Hicks family has shown our congregation and the world what faith in action truly looks like. Their steadfastness is a living testimony of God’s grace and presence in the storm. Lawanda and Jeff, thank you for showing us what it means to serve faithfully, love deeply, and walk with God boldly. You are both a gift to our congregation.
