THE MISSOURI MUSIC TEACHERS ASSOCIATION (MMTA), FOUNDED IN 1895, IS A PROFESSIONAL NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION OF OVER 500 INDEPENDENT AND COLLEGIATE MUSIC TEACHERS, COLLEGE STUDENTS, AND PERFORMING ARTISTS. THE PURPOSES OF MMTA ARE THE ELEVATION OF THE STANDARDS OF TEACHING AND PERFORMANCE OF MUSIC, THE ADVANCEMENT OF AMERICAN MUSICAL COMPOSITION, THE CULTIVATION OF FRATERNAL FEELING AMOUNG ITS MEMBERS, THE DEVELOPMENT OF PUBLIC TASTE FOR GOOD MUSIC, AND COOPERATION WITH THE PURPOSE AND PROJECTS OF THE MUSIC TEACHERS NATIONAL ASSOCIATION. THE MMTA SERVES 1800 STUDENTS. MMTA IS AFFILIATED WITH THE MUSIC TEACHERS NATIONAL ASSOCIATION.
