The Yana Club of Hilton Head Island Incorporated
The mission of the YANA Club is to provide a safe, comfortable and substance-free facility for 12-Step recovery meetings and to encourage the growth and fellowship of the recovery community on Hilton Head Island. YANA, which stands for You Are Not Alone, is where the majority of 12-step meetings of Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous convene on Hilton Head. More than thirty-five meetings meet each week, which accounts for eighty percent of island meetings. Since 1985, thousands have walked through the welcoming doors of the YANA Club and have discovered a way of life free from addictive substances through the recovery program outlined in the 12 steps of AA and NA. Several hundred recovering people come together weekly for meetings, recovery, celebrations, parties and holidays. It is the intent of YANA Club board to continue this meeting growth, so as to meet the needs of future recovering alcoholics, drug addicts and families in the area. Alcohol and drug abuse is a major health problem that affects society on many different levels. It is estimated that approximately 10 percent of the population are alcoholics and/or addicts, which translates to 4000 island residents and hundreds of annual visitors. Therefore, it is crucial that the YANA Club maintain a secure, safe and wholesome environment where 12-step recovery meetings can take place. The YANA facility is an ideal spot for 12-step meeting. The building''s design, configuration, size, central location, parking and privacy make it a most desirable club facility. In fact, the YANA Club is the only sober clubhouse in southern Beaufort County - the next nearest facility is in the Town of Port Royal near Beaufort. YANA is a 501c3 non profit organization managed by a nine-member, volunteer board of directors. The YANA Club is not affiliated with AA, NA or any other 12-step group. Nevertheless, YANA aims toward applying the spirit of those Traditions in its operational decisions. (See Twelve Traditions in section on Other Documents)
