Beneath the crushing pressure of the deep, giants crawl. Our first glimpses of deep-sea isopods came through the lens of baited remote underwater video systems (BRUVS). Strange, armored, and ancient—these creatures sparked questions we couldn’t ignore. Now, we’re venturing into new territory to learn more. Our deep sea drop cameras travel hundreds of meters into the ocean’s depths, capturing footage of rarely seen species or sometimes even species never seen before in that area. After hours on the seafloor, we send an acoustic signal that triggers their release, sending them floating back to the surface with valuable data to be recovered for analysis.
