The mission of Thrive Scholars is to help high-achieving, low-income underrepresented students get into and graduate from top colleges equipped to achieve their full career potential.

Thrive Scholars
Thrive Scholars is a national nonprofit organization established to support high-achieving students of color from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, primarily focusing on Latino and Black students. Founded in 2002 in Los Angeles, California, the organization aims to address disparities in higher education access and economic mobility. Thrive Scholars provides comprehensive support, including academic preparation, mentoring, and professional development, to empower students and help them thrive in competitive academic environments.
Mission and Vision
The mission of Thrive Scholars is to help high-achieving, low-income, underrepresented students gain admission to and successfully graduate from highly selective colleges. The organization envisions a future where students from low-income families have equal opportunities to achieve academic success and where diverse representation is achieved in corporate and institutional settings.
Programs
Thrive Scholars operates a 6-Year Program designed to assist students from the moment they aim for college until they graduate. The program encompasses several key components:

College Advising: Provides expert guidance for students aiming to gain admission into top colleges, focusing on financial aid strategies that minimize or eliminate student debt.

Academic Preparation: Includes two six-week summer sessions that strengthen college-level math and writing skills.

Socio-Emotional and Financial Support: Offers resources to help students manage the challenges of transitioning to college life.

Career Development: Involves industry-specific coaching, access to paid internships, and connections to professional networks to enhance career readiness.
Impact
Thrive Scholars has demonstrated significant success in achieving its goals. The organization reports that 89% of its scholars enroll in top colleges, with 91% of Latino scholars achieving a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Additionally, many graduates enter the workforce or pursue further education with starting salaries exceeding $67,500.
Organizational Structure and Financials
Thrive Scholars is classified as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, making donations tax-deductible. The organization relies heavily on contributions, which account for nearly all of its revenue. In recent reports, Thrive Scholars has demonstrated a high level of financial efficiency, earning a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator.
