When you’re trusted, are you trustworthy? In this powerful episode of Surah Al-Ma’arij, we unpack a critical yet often overlooked value in Islam: amana (trust) and ‘ahd (promise). Allah describes the people of prayer—not by how long they stand, but by how they carry the responsibilities placed on them. They are like shepherds watching over something fragile, sacred and dependent. Whether it’s a job, a marriage, a friendship or even a passing commitment, how you treat your trusts is how you treat your faith. Marriage? It’s not just a social contract. It’s a divine trust. Parenting? Not just a responsibility. It’s an amana. Even citizenship, employment and community roles, all are part of the sacred landscape of accountability that Islam builds. “Those who are watchful over their trusts and promises…” (70:32) Salah is meant to train us for this life of vigilance. Not just standing before Allah, but standing up for truth, integrity and reliability in everything we do. This episode is a reminder: Prayer isn’t just worship, it’s character training. 👉 Watch Episode 13 of Deeper Look: Surah Al-Ma’arij now on Bayyinah TV. https://byna.tv/14 Because what you do with trust, says everything about your relationship with Allah. Islam doesn’t treat desire as something shameful. It recognizes it, honors it and guides it. In Surah Al-Ma’arij, we learn that the spiritual path isn’t about becoming numb to our urges, it’s about being honest with them and guarding them. Allah names two forces inside of us that, if left unchecked, can ruin our souls: - Greed - Desire But He doesn’t command us to suppress them. He teaches us how to channel them. – Earn, but give. – Desire, but guard. – Love, but take responsibility. Marriage, in the Quran, is not a cage. It’s a place of peace. If it fails to be that? Divorce is not condemned. It’s dignified. The Quran doesn’t burden you with shame. It invites you to a life of dignity—where your spiritual integrity is built on honesty, not guilt. “We made marriage easy. We made divorce easy. You made both hard.” That’s the hidden warning behind these ayat. And it’s a call to return—not just to halal behavior, but to halal thinking.
