Our Mission Down with Dystonia strives to support, educate, and empower people living with dystonia and their families while raising awareness about this third most common movement disorder. Vision Our vision is a future where dystonia is recognized and diagnosed early, and where successful treatments are found so that the condition does not limit the potential of any individual. Until that vision is realized, we will be here to provide resources, encouragement, and to push constantly for further research and options.R

Down With Dystonia - We are here to support, educate, and empower EDUCATION The Disorder Dystonia is a neurological movement disorder that causes muscles in the body to contract or spasm involuntarily. The involuntary muscle contractions cause twisting repetitive and patterned movements as well as abnormal postures. Dystonia is not a single disease but a syndrome a set of symptoms that cannot be attributed to a single cause but share common elements. Some forms of dystonia may affect a specific body area such as the neck face jaw eyes limbs or vocal cords.
