Maitland Museum: Ekphrastic Poetry Workshop with Poet Skye Jackson. . Maitland Art Center has partnered with us again to bring you this workshop. . ALL WELCOME. Are you looking to break out of the tyranny of writers’ block? Or maybe you are open to exploring the realm and liminal space between visual and literary art? What the workshop is about: What does the art make you think of? Where does it transport you? This workshop will help you to look at works of art and write poetry (or prose) based on what you see and how the piece makes you feel. In this workshop, we will seek to eliminate the gap between observer and art and between artist and subject. You will learn how to “listen” to a visual work of art to create your own poetic or literary masterpiece. . Should attendees bring a laptop or computer or writing pad and pencil or some other element to workshop? Attendees should bring a writing pad and pencil (or pen).
