Chrystal Catholic went through a lot in the weeks before becoming a Frosted Face. Her mom had moved to San Diego to be closer to family because she was experiencing health challenges. Recently, she was discovered wandering and lost by local authorities. This is when her family realized that it was no longer safe for Chrystal's mom to live alone, so she was moved to a care facility. A neighbor took responsibility for finding Chrystal and her three siblings homes, while the dogs were left behind in the empty house. The neighbor was a senior herself, with little to offer other than her time and good heart, desiring to make sure all of the dogs were safe. Unfortunately, Chrystal got away while the neighbor was trying to load all four dogs into her car. Amazingly, after 3 days of searching, the neighbor was let back onto the empty property to find Chrystal cowering in the garage. She must have found her way home! When Chrystal was brought to us on November 7th, she was understandably very overwhelmed and scared. So much stress and loss for a little girl who spent her life as a beloved companion! Thankfully, only a few days after Chrystal arrived, she was chosen to live in a Foster home to decompress. She is blossoming with extra TLC in the comfort of a quiet home and the companionship of the other Frosted Faces. After 6 months fostering Chrystal, her Foster mom Magdalena has decided that she’s a KEEPER! “With your permission we would love to adopt Chrissy. She took forever to trust us and even now I feel like we have more progress to make. She had blossomed, gained confidence, and integrated with our pack. We don’t want to see her go and have to readjust again. We also are in the process of moving to Ramona so the pups have more space to roam. Today, we want to give special thanks to Derrick Nguyen, who generously funded the purchase of the Isoflurane Vaporizer ($1,282.00), a vital piece of equipment that ensures safe anesthesia for our senior dogs during surgery. A Tec 3 anesthesia vaporizer is a device that vaporizes liquid anesthetic agents and delivers a controlled amount to the patient. It precisely blends incoming oxygen with the liquid anesthetic (like isoflurane or sevoflurane) and outputs an anesthetic gas at a specific oxygen-to-anesthetic ratio. The dial setting allows for fine adjustments of the anesthetic concentration. This generous gift was made in loving memory of Bob, Daisy, Bluto, and Ghost—a beautiful tribute that will go on to help save the lives of so many more.
