Anytown Leadership Program Inc

Overview

The Anytown Leadership Program Inc. is a nonprofit human relations organization dedicated to educating, embracing, and empowering leaders to promote social change. It was initially established as part of a broader movement against hatred and intolerance, tracing its roots to historical efforts by leaders such as Teddy Roosevelt and Jane Addams. The program envisions a society strengthened by diversity, inclusion, respect, and justice for all people.

History

Anytown has its roots in initiatives by leaders from various faiths who came together to combat the Ku Klux Klan's bigotry and exclusionary practices in the early 20th century. The National Conference for Christians and Jews (NCCJ) was one such initiative, focusing on interfaith dialogue and understanding. Anytown Leadership Camp, a flagship program, was originally established in Arizona and became a prestigious honor for high school students to attend. However, the program faced challenges and eventually ceased operations in 2009. It was resurrected in 2014 by dedicated alumni.

Programs

• Anytown Leadership Camp: This residential camp brings together teenagers from diverse backgrounds to educate them on inclusion, bias, and discrimination. Participants learn effective methods for discussing complex social issues and become empowered as leaders in their communities.
• Anytown at School: Customized programs designed for in-school and off-site settings, built on the principles of the flagship camp.
• Anytown at Work (Powered by Inclusion Counts): Offers training and technical assistance to businesses and educational institutions to foster diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
