Fredericksburg Symphony Orchestra

The Fredericksburg Symphony Orchestra is a nonprofit organization dedicated to presenting high-quality classical music performances in the central Virginia area. Founded in 2021, it has quickly become a cultural highlight of the region, attracting top musicians from the area and consistently selling out concerts.

Mission

The Fredericksburg Symphony Orchestra aims to enhance and increase cultural awareness of classical music within the community. It achieves this by presenting performances involving both professional and amateur musicians, while also encouraging and educating young artists.

Performances and Personnel

The orchestra is a 75-piece ensemble, led by Music Director Kevin P. Bartram. It performs a variety of musical works throughout the year, including classical masterpieces and contemporary compositions. Notable performances include their annual Halloween Classics concerts, featuring iconic pieces like Hector Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique and Camille Saint-Saëns' Danse Macabre.

Seasons and Concerts

The orchestra typically presents a four-concert series each year, often including popular and seasonal themes such as a Holiday Pops concert. Their performances have been consistently well-received, with three out of four shows selling out in previous seasons.

Venues

The orchestra initially performed at Lifepoint Auditorium, but due to venue renovations, they have relocated to James Monroe High School's Auditorium for the 2024-25 season. This new venue offers enhanced seating and acoustics, providing an improved experience for both the performers and the audience.

Community Engagement

Beyond performances, the Fredericksburg Symphony Orchestra fosters a supportive community of patrons, volunteers, and musicians. It serves as a significant cultural asset for Fredericksburg, contributing to the city's vibrant arts scene.
