The Non-Profit FOSS Institute (NPFI) supports the development and customization of free and open source software (FOSS) products to fit the needs of individual non-profit organizations. Many of these products are developed and customized by student teams during software development courses. Others are developed directly by NPFI. All NPFI software is provided freely to the non-profits.

These applications are developed by collegelevel student teams working with an instructor. Partnering with a professional software company NPFI enables the deployment hosting and ongoing technical support for each of these applications. NPFIs unique approach thus contributes to the inventory of free software that is available for nonprofits and other organizations.
