Let’s talk about the most feared, unpredictable, and chaotic part of the Run, Walk, and Roll: the weather. Will it be sunny? Will it rain? Will a freak snowstorm descend from the heavens just as you hit mile two? Who knows! But I’ve been preparing for all possibilities. Excessive heat? I blast my face with a blow dryer every morning until I can’t tell if it’s the motor or my soul screaming. High winds? I installed a wind turbine in the garage. It once knocked over our neighbor’s trampoline. Worth it. Torrential rain? I train underwater. Bathtub. Ankle weights. Panic. Very scientific. Arctic cold? I walk barefoot through the frozen food aisle wearing nothing but confidence and delusion. My mantra: “I’m warm. I’m warm.” Until security arrives. You get the point.
