New Detroit : a racial justice organization founded in 1967 New Detroit is a coalition of leaders working to achieve racial understanding and racial equity in Metropolitan Detroit. New Detroit works to dismantle racism in the Metro Detroit region by moving hearts and minds and changing policies and systems. Our work includes education trainings services research and programs to fight racism at the personal institutional and systemic levels. The concept of racism as a public health crisis was first raised by the Harvard School of Public Health in 2019 to look across systems not just health.
