Founded in the United States in 1978, The Compassionate Friends (TCF) is an adaptation of a similar organization established in the United Kingdom in 1969 by Revd Canon Dr. Simon Stephens. The U.S. chapter was influenced by a 1971 Time Magazine article that highlighted the benefits of peer support for bereaved families.
