Compassion Planet empowers aged-out foster youth & at-risk youth, ages 18-24 years, to overcome personal obstacles, achieve independence & reach their fullest potential through life skills coaching, on-the-job paid training & year long mentoring program. We help aged-out foster and at-risk youth overcome personal obstacles in order to achieve independence and reach their fullest potential.The Need - National statistics show that 65% of aged-out foster youth who lack adult mentors will become homeless, incarcerated, addicted to drugs or victims of sex trafficking, which consequently bring greater harm to a region. At Compassion Planet, we do more than rescue; we believe every at-risk youth entrusted to us has the capacity to overcome as well become valuable leaders, and members of our community. Unique Approach - Healthy lives are created through high ratios of supportive, positive adults in the lives of our trainees. Our goal is to provide 20-25 mentoring relationships to those we serve. Believing sustainability is unlikely, without a livable income, social enterprise is integral part of our mission, which is why we employ our trainees.CP not only focuses on career development, but demonstrates how one's entire life can affect employment, goals and dreams. This gives CP the opportunity to address principles such as; finances, decision-making, communication, health, hygiene, nutrition, manners, healthy relationships, character, ethics, and leadership. Success - The results have been phenomenal! Not only do we have a proven track record of maintaining long term relationships with our graduates, but every trainee demonstrates incredible, measurable gains upon completion of our program. Additionally, by collaborating with local businesses and educational institutions we are able to help each trainee with next steps by arranging for employment or completing education in keeping with their goals. After graduating from our one-year program, we continue to offer monthly training, counseling and support services to our alumni including an assigned Compassion Planet volunteer becoming “forever family" to each of the trainees.
