The organization operates in 37 counties across the Appalachian Mountains and rolling hills, a region home to a significant population living in poverty.

Please join us in welcoming our Barbourville summer intern, Reese Johnson, to AppalReD Legal Aid! 🎉 Originally from Birmingham, AL, Reese just completed her 1L year at the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law. She decided to spend her summer with AppalReD after attending a UK Law spring break trip to eastern KY! Here’s what Reese had to say: “I decided to intern at AppalReD because the organization made a great impression on me when I volunteered over spring break, and I am looking forward to helping out as much as I can and learning and experiencing as much as I can!” Reese is especially interested in intellectual property and family law—and passionate about learning the best ways to use law as a medium to help the community. 💼⚖️ We’re so excited to have her on the team this summer! Well now it’s really Fri-yay! Thanks to Peoples Bank of Kentucky, Inc. for stopping by and for all the good you do in our area. We will be putting these funds from People’s Bank Foundation to work supporting clients in recovery who would benefit from an expungement but who have barriers like court costs standing in their way. Expungements help people get back to work and school. They make a huge difference in the life of a client and are a powerful economic development tool. We are so grateful for your support! (fb)
