🌳 Cooperating Association/official nonprofit partner supporting programs & events @ Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park 🌲 🌳 Cooperating Association/Official Nonprofit Partner supporting programs & events @ Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park 🌲 The Ocmulgee Mounds Association was founded in 1948 as a cooperating organization in support of the Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park, a unit in the National Park Service. This volunteer organization provides support and funding for enhancing the mission the Park to preserve and protect the 17,000 year old cultural resource found within the park. In addition, the Association assists in educational resources for the interpretation of the Park's cultural and natural resources. Specific mission objectives include: Promote public understanding, appreciation, and good stewardship for the Nation's cultural and natural resources. Highlight the continuum of relationship between these resources to help citizens understand how the past relates to the present, and that their actions in the present will influence the future. Provide interesting and informative educator workshops, lesson plans, hands-on cultural/natural resource materials and games, activity guides, traveling exhibits, computer software and a variety of learning experiences. Provide opportunities for volunteerism to assist the park staff in many facets of the Park's mission.
