Little House On the Prairie Museum Inc
The mission of the Little House on the Prairie Museum is to encourage a children's literacy, a love of reading, Kansas history, the Kansas Prairie, and help keep the memory of Laura Ingalls Wilder alive through the preservation of her Kansas homestead. We are a non-profit historical site / museum dedicated to preserving the childhood homestead of Laura Ingalls Wilder, located 13 miles southwest of Independence, Kansas. We promote education, children's literature, social studies, and environmental studies to school children across the state, and locally to southeast Kansas elementary schools. It is also to create educational programs for students, teachers, children, and schools, as well as printed and or online materials to be used in the classroom.
