Scott Moller '85, president of the SIU Alumni Association Board of Directors and a member of the SIU Foundation Board of Directors, is playing a leading role in the revitalization of Hangar 9, a beloved venue on the Strip that has been part of Carbondale’s music and nightlife scene for nearly five decades. Alongside fellow alumnus Andrew Perlmutter '96, Scott acquired the venue from longtime owner Sally Carter, who operated it for 47 years before its closure in December 2024. Under their leadership, Hangar 9 will reopen this August with exciting upgrades, including expanded dance floors, a new outdoor beer garden and new entertainment partnerships that will reconnect SIU students and alumni to downtown Carbondale. We are proud to recognize Scott’s leadership in strengthening community ties, supporting the university and reenergizing a landmark that holds special meaning for generations of Salukis.
