The artists of Shakespeare Royal Oak are saddened to hear of Michigan Shakespeare Festival’s announcement to suspend their season this year. Many of its artists affected this year have been in our festival shows as well. The truth is that maintaining professional theatre in a community depends on keeping a fragile network of talented folks engaged with each other throughout the year, in places where they can hone their craft and use it to inspire us, their neighbors, and friends. MSF, like SRO, has been one of those places. MSF inspired our festival’s beginning 25 years ago and we have always admired it’s commitment to that shared dream.
