A sample of what we do: financial support for advanced training on topics that enhance the professional skills of officers; programs and events that create opportunities for community involvement with police, and provide information on police initiatives; financial support for equipment and other needs beyond the reach of the City budget; and annual appreciation dinner and awards throughout the year to recognize achievements of Charlottesville Police Department staff.

The Community Police Academy provides experiential training on the daily operations and functions of the Charlottesville Police Department (CPD). Classes are taught by members of CPD, including Chief Michael Kochis, Command Staff, and detectives and officers from specialty units. Graduates of the program found the academy to be both informative and rewarding.
