Through residential group living, the Appalachian Children's Home seeks to provide each boy and girl on campus a secure and stable living situation, in a moral, ethical, christian, family-like environment. The Children's Home provides care and services for dependent, abused, neglected, and orphaned children and their families. Any child, regardless of race, religion, creed, or gender, who is unable to be maintained in his/her own home will be considered for placement.

The Lord was ready to destroy the children of Israel and make a nation out of Moses except for the intervention of Moses. It was there that God told Moses in Exodus 33 21 Behold there is a place by me and thou shalt stand upon a rock For the last 75 years individuals businesses and ministries throughout this multistate region have joined together providing a place of security stability compassion understanding and love to care for children whose lives have been upended by no fault of their own. The Appalachian Childrens Home partnering with Bluegrass and Appalachian foster services provides more than a residential environment.

Substance Abuse Therapy Brings Hope and Restoration I’m Jamie Hobbs, CADC, a substance abuse therapist at Appalachian Children’s Home, where I have worked since 2005. I provide services through a 12–16 week substance abuse program for our kids in residential care, many of whom have been exposed to drug culture early in life. The program includes weekly individual sessions focused on understanding the root of substance use and addiction, learning healthy coping strategies, and developing skills like assertive communication and stress management to help our kids make better decisions in difficult situations.
