NOW IN ITS 28TH YEAR, THE SUN CONFERENCE, A 501C3 ORGANIZATION, CONTINUES TO BE ONE OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCES IN THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS (NAIA).THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS' CHAMPIONS OF CHARACTER PROVIDES TRAINING TO ENSURE STUDENT-ATHLETES KNOW, DO AND VALUE THE RIGHT THINGS IN ALL AREAS OF LIFE. THE FIVE CORE VALUES: INTEGRITY, RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, SPORTSMANSHIP AND SERVANT LEADERSHIP ARE PUT INTO PLAY, ACCOUNTED FOR AND TRACKED AT ALL NAIA SCHOOLS.

The Sun Conference Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization primarily engaged in fostering national or international amateur sports competitions. It operates as a college athletic conference affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

History

The Sun Conference, previously known as the Florida Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, was established in 1990. Over the years, it has undergone name changes, becoming the Florida Sun Conference in 1992, before adopting its current name. The conference has expanded to include institutions from Florida and Georgia, offering championships in multiple sports.

Activities

The Sun Conference sponsors championships in 23 NAIA sports, including baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, beach volleyball, men’s and women’s cross-country, football, flag football, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s indoor track and field, women's lacrosse, men’s and women’s soccer, softball, men’s and women’s swimming, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s outdoor track and field, and women’s volleyball.

Currently, The Sun Conference comprises 10 NAIA colleges and universities, with eight institutions located in Florida and two in Georgia. The conference has undergone several changes in membership over the years, with institutions joining or leaving to participate in different athletic divisions.
