The Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project

Freeing the wrongfully convicted in DC, Maryland, and Virginia since 2000. The Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project (MAIP) is dedicated to correcting and preventing the conviction of innocent people in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Since 2000, the Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project (MAIP) has worked to prevent and correct the conviction of innocent people in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, and to help freed and exonerated people rebuild their lives after release. To date, MAIP has helped secure the exoneration or release of 44 innocent men who spent a total of 889 years in prison and has helped pass 20 laws that would prevent wrongful convictions, make them easier to correct, or help exonerees rebuild their lives.
