“Stone Castle” is one of those deed references that has long fascinated me as I back index. Until today I didn’t know if it was a place, all references have just been “eastern Henry County” to this point, or a thing. Well today in Deed Book 84, I found out that “Stone Castle” is in fact a thing. And it was located in Gratz. Now, this is another curious fact. Gratz is Owen County. Has been since 1819 when Owen County was formed, unless someone knows something about the county lines that I don’t (which is totally possible!). But that tells me that the Stone Castle was very old.
