The Institute for Dunham Technique Certification is a non-profit organization dedicated to perpetuating the legacy of dancer/choreographer/anthropologist Katherine Dunham (1909-2006). IDTC maintains a professional standard for the teaching of Dunham Technique, thereby ensuring the teachers have a thorough technical and philosophical understanding of the technique. IDTC creates a worldwide network of professional Dunham Technique teachers who actively maintain current knowledge and practice of Dunham Technique. IDTC creates a family of supporters of the Dunham legacy. It is our intention to ensure that Dunham Technique is a foundational technique in the contemporary dance lexicon.
