Were you born in 1985? It may be time for your first mammogram. Our coworker, Jennifer Inabinett, kindly shared her experience here for our followers. "I kept wondering am I sweaty? Did removing my deodorant at the end of the work day create an odor?" were some thoughts running through her head. "But trust me, our mammography experts aren’t thinking about that. "I worked with Olivia at the Telfair Pavilion, who was great. She made me feel so at ease. And, the positioning (a typical mammogram is four positions) and imaging part of the experience took maybe 10 minutes." “The images produced through MRI are so detailed. It really blows my mind,” says Lauren Hughes, technologist at the St. Joseph’s/Candler Imaging Center in Bluffton. “MRI shows more of the ligaments and tendons, as opposed to CT. MRI really is the golden standard for anything muscular, such as knee or shoulder. We can also look at every organ in the body.” St. Joseph’s/Candler has the latest imaging technology to make patients feel more comfortable and get them in and out as quickly as possible. In Bluffton, for example, we have one of the region’s only Open MRI machines with the Oasis High-Field Open Magnetic Resonance Imaging System. It produces excellent imaging results, is less claustrophobic for patients and reduces the likelihood of having to reschedule.
