Educating orphans and vulnerable children Friends of Fumbelo began its work in 2008 prompted by a visit to the impoverished village of Fumbelo on the outskirts of Lusaka Zambias capital. Many of the children had lost their parents to AIDS and were being raised by their grandmothers. They had never looked at a book or held a marker. All were hungry.
