Arm Services day is for those who currently serve our country and where the uniform. Veterans Day is for those who previously served our country, retired and took off the uniform. Memorial Day is for those who gave their lives, serving our country and died still wearing the uniform. On Memorial Day, Legacies Alive would like to thank every American, who took time out of their day to attend a parade, visit a cemetery, attend the memorial service, or make a contribution to our organization. Much love, hugs and prayers to our nations, Gold Star families, and our heroes above. ~ John Dudo, Executive Director (fb)

Today is the 16th angelversary for Army SGT Jacob A. Teets. Jacob grew up in Pulaski Township, Pennsylvania, where he led an active life snowboarding, swimming, bowling, and riding bikes. At New Brighton High School, he ran track and field—competing in hurdles, high jump, pole vault, and cross-country—and played some baseball. He was also active in Boy Scouts and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. After graduating in 2005, Jacob enlisted in the Army. He completed basic and advanced individual training as a combat engineer at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. In October 2006, he deployed to Baghdad, Iraq, for a 15-month tour with the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, based at Fort Bliss, Texas. In June 2008, he was reassigned to the 7th Engineer Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, at Fort Drum, New York. Jacob died on May 22, 2009, in a tragic fall. His legacy endures through his family, friends, and comrades. #legaciesalive (fb)
