AUSTEN BIOINNOVATION INSTITUTE IN AKRON (THE "INSTITUTE OR ABIA") IS AN OHIO NOT-FOR-PROFIT CORPORATION FORMED ON JUNE 24, 2008 AND HAS BEEN DETERMINED TO BE TAX-EXEMPT PURSUANT TO INTERNAL REVENUE CODE (IRC) SECTION 501(C)(3) AND A PUBLIC CHARITY UNDER IRC 170(B)(1)(A)(VI). ABIA IS A UNIQUE COLLABORATION OF COMPLEMENTARY RESEARCH, EDUCATION, AND HEALTH INSTITUTIONS, I.E. THE FOUNDING MEMBERS, WITH A MISSION TO EXPAND ON AKRON, OHIO'S RICH LEGACY IN MATERIALS SCIENCES BY PIONEERING THE NEXT GENERATION OF LIFE-SAVING BIOMEDICAL INNOVATION FOR THE 21ST CENTURY.
