The mission of the Student-Run Emergency Housing Unit of Philadelphia (SREHUP) and it’s Breaking Bread Community Shelter is to achieve long-lasting positive changes for the community of people experiencing homelessness by providing for this population’s immediate needs and working to transition people from homelessness to permanently housed. We achieve this mission by providing guests with a place to sleep, warm meals, a variety of holistic programs, and assistance in obtaining permanent housing. We currently have 24 beds for adults of all ages and backgrounds. Breaking Bread Community is the only shelter that welcomes guests to come with their 3 Ps: Pets, Possessions, and Partners of all genders.
