MNHBPA was formed in 1984 to advocate the interests and needs of owners and trainers participating in Thoroughbred racing in the state of Minnesota. The Minnesota Horsemens Benevolent Protective Association is the sole representative of the Horsemen conducting business at Canterbury Park. The MNHBPA strives to actively promote in general the horse racing industry in Minnesota and specifically the sport of Thoroughbred racing.
