Village Health Works is a nonprofit providing quality healthcare and education in rural Burundi Village Health Works' mission is to provide quality, compassionate health care in a dignified environment while also addressing the root causes of poverty, disease, violence, and neglect. The result is a crucial, community-driven effort to rebuild peace in a country still struggling from the trauma of prolonged civil war.Holistic Approach to Health - We take a holistic approach to health, addressing food security, education, livelihood development, music, and the arts. Together, these efforts contribute to peace-building and community healing.Grassroots Community Foundation - Our success has led to an ever-growing level of community involvement and demonstrates that the best way to achieve scalability is to harness community enthusiasm and sense of ownership.Educating and Training a Workforce - Our staff is 98% Burundian. Our health, education, and agriculture programs are training grounds. In addition, we support economic cooperatives and skills training in construction and maintenance.
