NORTHERN HAITI SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVE INCORPORATED
Supporting the long-term sustainability of schools in Northern Haiti. To register for the 2018 Polar Cap Run: Northern Haiti Sustainability Initiative, Incorporated (NHSI) was founded to provide for the long-term sustainability of schools in Northern Haiti. Northern Haiti Sustainability Initiative, Inc. (NHSI) was founded to provide for the long-term sustainability of schools in Northern Haiti. Many schools in Haiti are constructed with no plan for sustaining daily operations. NHSI provides training and funds to properly budget and finance teacher wages, books, school supplies, an on- campus water source, and daily student meals. Teacher training is provided to raise the quality of education, including each school's ability to perform successfully on government tests. NHSI requires rigid budgetary discipline backed by strict expense documentation for all supported schools. An integral component of each school's long-term success is the financial and hands-on participation of the students' parents and local community.
