Have just been enjoying Inside The Gates Radio with morning coffee on the deck and feeling incredibly fortunate for such an opportunity. Here's what played...Boston, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, Mark Knopfler, Sterophonics, Randy Crawford, Jefferson Airplane, Sheryl Crow, Warren Zevon, John Fogerty and Cream (I drink my coffee black, so a bit of cream was appropriate)! Tune in anytime and enjoy the most eclectic mix of music one can get anywhere. And the price is right! 😉🎶 A brand new edition of Looney's Tunes takes place later today at 6:30 P.M. EST. I invite you to join me. For those who've not yet downloaded our free App (for both Apple and Android devices), hit the FAQ button on our home page for precise instructions. You will be rewarded! I would say at this point that I have safely added the 6th segment to my shows as many have expressed their approval and enjoyment. They are all in play this evening... *Cover Me Up... Last Sunday, not 1, but 2 covers of our original from Albert King's, Born Under A Bad Sign. The 1st from Cream, the 2nd from Craig Chaquico (he of Jefferson Starship fame) and they were excellent! And just as we enjoyed last week, we'll play 2 cover versions of a great track from 1969. The covers come from artists who released them in 2005 and 2014. *Battle Of The Bands... Our '70's battle between The Edgar Winter Group (Frankenstein) and Thin Lizzy (The Boys Are Back In Town) was classic. An early lead by Edgar Winter was extinguished early as Lizzy overtook and maintained comfortably right to the very end...congrats to them. Our battle this evening is a classic soul battle from the late '60's-early '70's. This one will be close. No rules will very much come into play for this one! *Separate & Together... Last week, the incredible artists that formed Crosby, Stills & Nash made this segment most memorable. Crosby's, Laughing from 1971, Stills, Love The One You're With from 1970 and Nash's, I Used To Be A King from 1971 played separately and the segment concluded with the outstanding track, Wooden Ships from the trio's eponymous 1st album in 1969. Very special! Tonight a most incredible duo will grace this segment. Gonna be great! *Sing Along... Lyle Lovett's cover of Stand By Your Man served as our sing along tune and you all were fantastic. Keep those voices limbered up and ready to go for later this evening as we venture back to a classic from 1965. I'm counting on intense participation!!!! *Then And Later... When a band like Little Feat provides us with tracks from 1973 and 2025, we have to take notice...and notice we did. Fat Man In The Bathtub was our 'Then' track and Strike Up The Band our 'Later' track. Most excellent! Our featured artist this evening is seemingly timeless and equally incredible...the spread this evening....55 years! Amazing! *The 5th... Serious music for serious music lovers got its start last Sunday with Todd Rundgren and Hello It's Me followed by songs from Eva Cassidy, Brian Culbertson, Linda Ronstadt, Steely Dan, Boz Scaggs, Dave Mason and closing with the colorful and incredible Joe Walsh. Those who stay with me until the end will absolutely reap listening rewards! Trivia, Trivia, Trivia...Here is your preview of a bit of what is coming later this evening on Inside The Gates Radio... *We'll play a song that is Shakespearian in that it is about a couple who are in love, but can't find a way to stay together. The song was written by the frontman of this popular British band and was inspired by his broken romance with the leader of a band named Holly And The Italians. Some of the lyrics indicate that he felt she used him to boost her career. Name the artist, the band and extra credit for the name of the song... *This song's title was taken from a 1951 Hank Williams track. The song is basically about visiting many different places and taking life as it comes. The track was released in 1973, Name the band that performed it and the song itself... *1969's Woodstock Festival was a breakthrough moment in time for many artists, but this one in particular, introduced this uniquely bluesy voice to many. Lots of original material in his 25+ albums, he was no stranger to tackling covers and we'll enjoy a great one this evening. Name the artist... *An incredibly successful musical career that included a most significant number of albums, this artist branched out to other ventures, including the audio reading of Hunter S. Thompson's, Fear And Loathing in Las Vegas and a musical adaptation of Herman Wouk's, Don't Stop The Carnival. Your mission is to guess without Googling! 😉 Name the artist... Should you not know the answers to these, you will be rewarded with the answers and the tracks later today by joining me later today. And that is just a small portion of the enjoyment waiting to be had! Truly looking forward to some pure music entertainment with you all later today. Text me and let me know you're on board. Catch you all later! The LooneyMan Craig Photo of Jefferson Starship with Craig Chaquico, taken by Steve Carlisle at the UC Berkeley Hearst Greek Theater in 1977. Mark Knofler was taken in San Francisco at Bill Graham's Winterland Ballroom in 1976, Boz Scaggs was taken in Oakland in 1977, Little River Band was taken in Orlando in 1979, Joe Walsh was in Atlanta with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and Lowell George of Little Feat was taken at Winterland in SF.
