Nearly half of Texas adults live in a household where someone has type 2 diabetes or prediabetes. That’s about 9.8 million Texans. Even more alarming, more than 620,000 Texans have diabetes and don’t know it. EHF’s interactive report on #diabetes in Texas reveals the scale of this health crisis, but also shows there’s real potential for change. The vast majority of type 2 diabetes cases can be prevented with earlier screening, better access to care, and action on non-medical factors that shape health. Explore the report and see why we’re working to shift the conversation from treatment to prevention. https://www.episcopalhealth.org/critical-health-issues-in-texas-diabetes/ #HealthNotJustHealthCare #DiabetesPrevention #TexasHealth #NMDOH #philanthropy (fb)

Nearly half of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) adults in Texas say they’ve skipped or delayed health care in the past year because of the cost. Many also face serious barriers beyond the doctor’s office, including housing, food insecurity, and limited access to transportation. EHF’s latest statewide poll highlights the real health experiences of AAPI Texans and the urgent need to address both medical care and the non-medical factors that influence health. AAPI Texans are one of the fastest-growing populations in the state, now totaling nearly 2 million people. Their voices are essential to shaping policies that create healthier communities for everyone.
