Bija is a high value, small scale nonprofit which targets sustainable projects at the community level. Our goal is to seed projects which can begin to help those in the community immediately while also serving as a model to impact neighboring communities. We select projects which have the potential for a ripple effect, helping them get off the ground and on their on feet so they are in a position to help themselves, and help others, sooner.Our current focus is in the following areas: Urban Agriculture, Clean Water, Sustainable Construction, and Education. At Bija we believe in working with communities, rather than in communities. While all our projects fall under one of the aforementioned categories, the project ideas and scopes come from engaged community members. We work with these communities to help bring these ideas to life, providing logistical, financial, and skill based support as needed.
