Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Charles County

Overview

The Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Charles County is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment for young people, primarily serving ages 6 to 18. Its mission is to foster productive citizens by offering educational, recreational, and character development programs. The organization operates with two locations in St. Charles County, serving multiple area schools through partnerships.

History

The organization was established on August 17, 1955, as the Boys’ Club INC. of St. Charles. It was founded in response to concerns over rising juvenile delinquency by the St. Charles Junior Chamber of Commerce, led by Joseph Hepp. Initially, the club offered various activities such as sports, educational events, and social gatherings. In 1987, the club began accepting girls, and by 1989, it was officially renamed the Boys and Girls Club of St. Charles. This led to the expansion of services across the county, culminating in becoming the Boys and Girls Clubs of St. Charles County in 1994 with the addition of a second location in O’Fallon.

Plans include expanding westward, strengthening corporate partnerships, and investing in STEM programs and workforce development. This strategic approach aims to further transform the lives of young individuals and contribute to the well-being of the community.
