Happy Dental Drill Appreciation Day! This day commemorates the invention of the electric dental drill, better known as 'Mr. Whistle' over at Upward Smiles. While the name sounds scary, the dental drill has come a long way in the evolution of dentistry, allowing treatments to be quicker, more efficient, and less uncomfortable for patients. Without 'Mr. Whistle', many treatments that we provide today to keep our mouths healthy and happy would be impossible! Luckily, our office is equipped to handle patients who still struggle with the sound and vibrations the drill gives off by using positive reinforcement, patience, and some help from laughing gas (Nitrous Oxide). If that doesn't work, we have a fully equipped Sedation Station above our Festus clinic to provide deep dental sedation under General Anesthesia for our patients who are more apprehensive.
