Who is Suncoast Basset Rescue Inc.? Suncoast Basset Rescue is a not-for-profit, all volunteer organization that rescues basset hounds from abusive, abandoned and unwanted situations just for the love of the breed. Our organization gives bassets a second chance to live, as they were intended- as someone's best animal friend. Our rescue efforts began in 1997 with two volunteers and help from the Suncoast Basset Hound Club of Tampa, Inc. To date we have rescued over 5,100 bassets. Today, Suncoast Basset Rescue Inc is a 501c(3), not-for-profit organization, which exists solely on donations. Where do the dogs come from? Our rescued bassets are from pounds, shelters, humane societies, as strays, and as owner surrenders.
