The Betsy Young Memorial Fund was created in 2011 to honor Betsy Young.Betsy was a teacher at the Ocean City Intermediate School. For many years of teaching instrumental music, she touched the lives of others and made an impact on everyone.She had a love for friends, family, life, and music.In the summer she enjoyed the beach, eating at Kessel's, teaching students at home, and spending time with her daughters.Betsy made the most of life. She was an extraordinary woman with smile as big as can be.In 2010, Betsy was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, a brain tumor. The town gathered together to support not only Betsy, but her family as well.She put up a good fight, never let her smile fade, and was always positive.In August 2011, Betsy passed away. To honor her tributes to the schools and her love for music, the Betsy Young Memorial Fund was created. The Board of Directors plans and hosts events for the town to enjoy, all while raising money for the Betsy Young Scholarship.
