The Institute for Rural America promotes opportunity for independent farmers and rural communities through education, research, advocacy and service. The Institute believes education and information are key to improving our nation's rural communities. Marketing education: Educational programs will inform producers and community leaders about managing the impacts of international trade agreements, and government's decreasing role in agriculture. The Institute will emphasize economic opportunity for rural people. Educating our youth: Through scholarship programs we will encourage America?s young people to advance their education in agricultural and rural-based careers. Technology for all: The Institute promotes the expansion of leading edge communication tools into small towns, achieving community betterment.

As part of our mission we strive to provide opportunity for rural Americans through initiatives and round table forums where people can solve their own problems by achieving consensus among individuals and groups by creating cooperative initiatives new alliances and new ventures.
