The purpose of this organization is the education of Golden Retriever owners and the public at large as to the history of the founding of the breed and its ancestral home, Guisachan, in the Scottish Highlands. The organization plans many educational activities designed to promote the 150th anniversary of the founding of the breed which will occur in 2018. The organization has published a booklet, "The Golden Retriever: A Scottish Legacy detailing the history of the breed, its emigration from Scotland to countries around the world , its evolution as a hunting dog to one that serves mankind in many ways including search and rescue, avalanche rescue, assistance dog, therapy dog, seeing-eye dog, etc. The organization also published a "Walking Guide to Historic Guisachan" to aid visitors.
