Blue Dragon Children's Foundation is a U.S. registered nonprofit organization with an international presence, primarily focused on addressing human trafficking and supporting vulnerable populations in Vietnam. Despite its U.S. registration, the organization's main operations are based in Vietnam.
Background
The organization was founded by Australian educator Michael Brosowski. While Brosowski's work began in Vietnam in 2002, the foundation officially registered in Australia in March 2004 and later as an independent NGO in Vietnam in November 2004. Initially, Blue Dragon concentrated on supporting street children in Hanoi, providing them with education, shelter, and other essential services.
Programs and Mission
Blue Dragon's mission is to end human trafficking through rescue operations, rehabilitation, and prevention programs. The foundation offers comprehensive support to children and youth in crisis, including those affected by human trafficking, slavery, and street homelessness. Their interventions include rescuing victims from exploitative situations, offering shelter and education, and fostering community resilience to prevent future exploitation.
Achievements and Impact
By 2020, Blue Dragon had completed its 1,000th rescue of trafficking victims. By the end of 2024, this number had increased to over 1,700. Beyond rescue operations, the organization plays a crucial role in influencing national policies to protect children and vulnerable populations in Vietnam, contributing to several key legislative changes.
Leadership and Recognition
Michael Brosowski serves as the Founder and Strategic Director. Skye Maconachie and Vi Do are Co-CEOs, with Maconachie recognized for her community and social impact work. Blue Dragon's efforts have been acknowledged with numerous awards, including the "Iqbal Masih Award for the Elimination of Child Labor" and recognition from the Vietnamese Government.
Financial and Governance
The organization maintains a high level of transparency and accountability, holding a Platinum rating through GuideStar. It conducts formal governance practices to ensure ethical leadership and financial oversight.

When children have fun, they learn, grow and make the world a better place. At Blue Dragon, we’re constantly evolving and looking for new ways to help children thrive. That’s why we recently ran a course for child support workers in Ho Chi Minh City on the topic of “Learning through play.” The idea of learning through play is to combine meaningful lessons with fun activities. To demonstrate this, the staff running the workshop organised a range of games designed to spark childlike joy. “This is the most fun and useful training session I’ve ever attended,” shares Ngoc, a child support worker. “It’s been ages since I’ve had so much fun.” Now, Ngoc and many others who enjoyed the session plan to take what they learned and create learning through play areas in the schools and care centres where they work. When vulnerable children come to them for support, they know how to keep them engaged as they guide them toward a better life. By working together with our partners, we will create a world where every child can thrive. (fb)

A landslide destroyed an entire village. Blue Dragon rebuilt it. When Typhoon Yagi hit northern Vietnam last year, it devastated communities and tore people’s lives apart. Deep in the mountains, in a clearing halfway down a valley where cars and even bikes can’t reach, a landslide crashed through a small village. Everyone survived, but all 15 homes were destroyed. Together with our partners, we provided the people of the village with emergency supplies and shelter. We then found safe plots of land and began rebuilding their homes. How are the villagers now? Follow the link in the comments to find out while enjoying photos from each stage of the process. (fb)
